Jataka Illustration

This time is super long time not to post, its been like...2 years ago? I hope I can be more active, there several project already released at bookstore and some put on event. But now I'm gonna put illustration that I did for awhile for Buddhist related story, yeah this is first time I did religion based illustration, I myself not Buddhist but I found its really interesting story, I hope I can get another illustration job of many religion books, any religion are good so its nice to see what they teach in their books.

The Illustration itself already put in here for teaser, remember these pages ? I can't show it all since its not published yet, so today I put my pages here.

This is the cover, its contain several stories with several amazing illustrator too. The book itself is selfpublishing by Ehipassiko foundation, so may or may not be put on major bookstore, but you can get it via their website: http://ehipassiko.or.id/

This are sample of my part, sorry I blurred the text, I love the result.

Last, I put my illustration sample here, I personally love this one (I used these for teaser too). I found myself really love to draw with Indian theme, particularly the bright color and India pattern are beautiful, I hope someday I managed to draw another India theme illustration again.

Long time no updates

Its been a while, I've been busy for almost 6 months preparing another book that soon will be released, its exhausting but fun mostly because I got another chance to explore my own style for children illustration book.
Now I wonder what should I put here? I remember making post about my first single book published here but never show what it look like.

Its read and put sticker book! this is first time I ever do this, hopefully someday I got a chance to do this again.
I will write my single book again later after its published, I hope someday I can create and publish my own book that I write and draw together.

The Wind Fairy that make trouble?

Another children book stories that collaborated with many artist, I got one part that have title "The Little Wind that blows and blows and blows" basically the story is about wind fairy that have trouble to control her power and instead of making her power to be useful, she accidentally make a trouble for earth people, and then her father help her to use her power properly, I think its sweet story about daugher and father bonding :).

Its released and since I already put a little teaser on my old post here, and now I'm allowed to put three sample works here.

There more great stories in this book with many variation of art that done by another great artist, especially for who loves a warming heart fantasy stories.

Fun learning with cute animals series released!

Sorry for long hiatus! I often updates on my facebook page than here, but for now I will update two new post since there more books already published (I'm so happy ^^).

First is Fun Learning with Cute Animals that I collaborated with two great author Mrs. Fitri Kurniawan and Watiek Ideo, its English-Indonesian (bilingual) book that help children learn math and know shape in fun way, since I'm allowed to make some book preview so here I will show some of the sample.

Already spotted on local bookstore

First is Visit The Shape Park is a book where you can teach children to know shapes, I really love working this one since I rarely got animal theme book.

And the second book is Cici's Birthday, its a book where you can teach children to do math in fun way, so there a column where you can fill the answer.

The book made with thick artcartoon but not dangerous for children, text is very easy and fun to read (and to be honest I play with the fun with Math book too) its really nice book that I even recommended to buy it.

So get it soon while still in bookstores :D

Things Magazine competition

Another competition that i joined for this year (whew thats a lot....), but this one I didn't win tho. Which is fine because I myself considered that this art lack of good concept, I bet there more artist who prepared more than me (I saw one of my favorite entry among the winner, he/she deserved it ^^).
Anyway I will do better next time.

The bad thing....like I wrote before in my twitter, I lost my original PSD for this picture. Files been messy in my computer in this recent days, so when I decided to fixed it I just realized later that the PSD file is gone without I even notice when I did deleted it....orz.

My friend gave me one software to fix it, hopefully it can *crossfinger* 

Movie Poster competition

I entered local movie poster competition that held by MuviSpot, and ended at 4th place. There a lot of things dissapointing during this competition but whatever the result is, I'm pretty glad for the result especially Slumdog Millionaire version.

I decided to choose Slumdog Millionaire because i found the official poster is a bit dissapointing, they didn't even put the main cast name on it, how shameful...

I put the chair as main object because the theme on this movie even romance is the game called Who want to be Millionaire, the game that decided of main character ending. I like how this movie actually about romance but they made it didn't look like your usual romance flick, and I love everything about it, not to mention the cast and the place take in India, which is why i used Indian look for this poster, the style or pattern.

And the second poster didn't win anything, but because I made it when I really in love with the movie, I just posted here too...

God, I'm so in love with the movie. Its heavy movie, a lot of dialogues and some disturbing idea but interesting especially we get to know the love story between sentient Operating System and human, which ironically I think this can happen in future.

I used White Carnation for the symbolic "Pure Love" because its the thing that I can see between the main character and one OS called "Samantha", the computer things made me decide to pixelate the flower, and made the title "Her" using random binary code, to add "tech feel" to this poster.

I just like simple poster but tell everything, like one of my favorite movie poster remake Olly Moss.

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2014 AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015!

Merry Christmas! this year I did postcard exchange again with my friends, I'm so happy. So here is my design.

Drawing weird santa became my habit.....2012 I drew muscled santa, only in 2013 I did a bit normal Radagast from The Hobbit with santa version, and this time the santa look like a Grinch...

I will draw santa's starter pack better version for next year.

Anyway this is supposed to be paper doll but I did some mistake that the paper to clip the dress on the doll is not fit, so instead paper doll I'll just switch this into cut and glue doll.

Tadaaa~  Santa is ready to deliver the gift. If you received my postcard and get bored, feel free to cut and glue like I did ^_^. 

Study value

Recently i joined another drawing course again last year, this one is the task they tell me to do. I kinda still don't understand value or color, I think I need to draw more something like this....

Our lecturer just told us to do distortion version and cartoon-y face based on reference, reference only used for color pick. I gladly doing some mean girls face :D (I love bitchy sass face ok, maybe that why I like some villain character, they bring greatest expression than the protagonist XD)

Merry Hobbit Christmas!

I feel ashamed, its been 3 months i didn't posted anything here due freelance job and restless work not allowed me to write anything ;_; but i got several project that i like and i'm thankful for that.

Anyway, Happy Belated Christmas! i don't know what should i draw but since i still in The Hobbit mood i draw Mr. Radagast and his cute Rabbits.

Also Tolkien fanbase in my country called Eorlingas commissioned me to draw art for their The Hobbit movie event, you don't know how happy i am >.<

At first i didn't put much wrinkles in his face based on promo pic reference but my friend said he didn't look like 50 years old, and i just realized Bilbo promo pic already photoshopped enough to erased many of this wrinkles lol (you should check character promo pic between The Hobbit movie 1 and 2).

I want this look like MAD magazine-y without too much realism but not cartoony too, did i success? i don't know but people in Eorlingas like it, and that made me happy.

Ahh long time not updating, my bad i shouldn't do this but after Popcon 2013 there a lot things to do from unfinished project to drawing some stuff for STGCC, but its all done. Thank you!

I've done Mirkwood Elves postcard, Thranduil is old doodle that i've done last year and planning to do other two (its look a bit plain....Thranduil really lucky to have that gorgeous crown so his picture is not really plain compare the other).

If you ever draw all the dwarves, you will be appreciated their braids after that.... The Braids are beautiful but pain in the ass when drawing it, it even more difficult than Tauriel's braids, i wonder if the Dwarves actually braiding their hair themself or with somebody help....

One thing i miss in this set, i want to draw Sebastian....

STGCC 2013... some part is good some part is bad, i'm a bit conflicted LOL, not sure next year will be joined again not because i don't like it but perhaps i'm planning to travel somewhere. 

Sometimes changing your regular stuff is a good thing.

I kinda tired now, its near end of 2013 when i look back and think what i've been done in this year, i spent too much on freelance job, doing a lot job....and missed some practicing because you already tired drawing.

I'm during drawing break now, perhaps next month or November i start to drawing again. Some people told that sometimes you need to take a break (but really i don't know how longer i can stay this lol, i'm already doodling when i'm in office).

Oh but i still write something, basically i never write anything about books that i illustrated has been published (i talked a lot in twitter, but i guess pimping a bit here is ok heheee).

Anyway this is teaser for book that i've been done, now i'm waiting to be published :>

Popcon 2013 Art

Actually i want to talk about my children books that already published but i'll save it later for other entry since i want to talk a bit about art that i've done for Popcon Asia 2013.

What is Popcon Asia 2013, its convention that held in Indonesia for Game, Comic, Art and other creative things enthusiast. I've been busy for some months doing another art for upcoming children books and i didn't have an idea (okay i got one, a book but i don't have time for made it) and time to doing some new stuff for Popcon, so i only did button/pins for the event.

I won't post Doctor Who one because its old pics of mine.

I have love and hate relationship with Popcon, if compared with STGCC (Singapore Toys Game and Comic Convention), since they are similiar event, i still prefer STGCC.

This is my first time attending Popcon Asia as exhibitor (i attended 2012 one as participant only), and yet when first day, i already lost 2 posters that i put on my booth's wall.

 

TARDIS poster is old poster that i made during STGCC 2010 and i made Joffrey poster only for jokes, special for Popcon Asia 2013 (sale only by request), but its gone after the day i put them on my booth's wall...

I don't know who steal it or for what purpose, you don't have permission to take it!

Now you understand the first thing i hate about Popcon Asia 2013 among other hate, its Indonesian people behavior.....

Not only that, i found several people still ask for discount for pins that i sell when i already gave a cheap price, this is how they appreciate art.

And for other hate is personal reason i cannot write here ^^

And for love? i meet new friends, great and humble artist and i'm understand the market for Indonesian people LOL also thank you for people who came to our booth and bought something, that really precious for us.

Will i joined Popcon Asia 2014? perhaps, we'll see.

Kettu and Kissa: Belated Wedding Gift for a friend

I just realized the best thing that you can give for one of your bestfriend's wedding is handmade stuff. Almost some months i'm annoyed because i don't know what should i gave to my friend for her wedding gift especially when the person that you want to give are not "you usual normal person" LOL she and her husband are pretty eccentric, so i don't want to give them usual gift with cheesy words.
Its kinda struck with me when she said "why you not made something with your drawing?"
Damn right.....i can draw, i'm illustrator and why that stuff never across in my mind. So in one month rushed, i made a custom apron (because i know both of them are like to cook) plus with napkin.

Writing are in Finnish, i don't really know Finnish language except "Kiitos" LOL, i search some cook jokes in internet and ask my friend's husband to translate it to Finnish (without knowing for what), dunno if they realized it or not, this writing suppose to be a little bit "naughty" but i tried less cheesy XD.

They are mascot of my friend and her husband, she is purple cat and he is snow fox.

Not bad i think, gosh i love to made product design XD, hopefully i can made it more in the future :)

And i'm glad that she and her husband like what i did for them :3

Adorable Couple XD

I got my own book!

Well actually not really my own book, but i did all the book except the writing (maybe someday, i will release my own book, written by me and draw by myself).
Last two months (January and February)are busy months, there a lot of job and its impossible for me to update my own blog, art one, review book or just personal blog :(

I still have one problem about my Children book, hopefully it will get done this month *crossfinger* Anyway i get this amazing project, i know i'm almost overloaded with projects, but i cannot pass this one because i really really love this book at first time when i read the writing, and what the writer want for style.
And also i got a chance to draw animal and no human, its awesome :D

This is just sample when i pitched for the job, i just like flat colored artwork.

I cannot post sample inside since the book itself still not unpublished, if published, i will gladly to post more :D, i love playing with color and distorted drawing. 

So here the cover sample, i'm looking forward for this book ^_^

Mural?

Project that given by my boss, a mural concept for someone office. Even i know its still a rough and sample art, my brain keep nudging me to fixing those bird and flower that didn't look like lotus at all LOL.
But i did plan to fix it if they approved this one, dunno but i hope they do approve, i never know what my art like when painted in the wall.
